Often, early breast cancer does not cause pain or many symptoms. But as the cancer grows, the following symptoms may arise:

  • A lump in the breast or armpit that is hard, has uneven edges, and usually does not hurt
  • A noticeable change in the size, shape, or feel of the breast or nipple – symptoms such as redness, dimpling, or puckering of the skin should be evaluated by your doctor
  • Bloody, clear, yellow, green or pus-like fluid coming from the nipple

Other symptoms may include:

  • Bone pain
  • Breast pain or discomfort
  • Skin ulcers
  • Swelling of one arm (next to breast with cancer)
  • Weight loss

If you experience any of these symptoms, you should contact your health care provider for a check-up.
